The Raquex Excel is the step up from the Eclipse in the Raquex range. It keeps the same control focused balance but swaps in a 12K carbon frame, which makes it a little stiffer and a little quicker through the ball.
At £129, it sits well below most 12K carbon rackets from the big brands. We looked at the specs, the price and how it compares with similar models.

Who Should Buy It?
The Excel is aimed at intermediate players who want a firmer response than a beginner racket, without moving to a heavy, head heavy power model. It also works well for improvers who play three or more times a week.
Good for
- Intermediate players who value placement
- Players stepping up from the Eclipse or a fibreglass racket
- Anyone who wants 12K carbon for under £150
Not ideal for
- Complete beginners, who may find it firm
- Players looking for big power on the smash
On Court
The 12K carbon gives the Excel a crisper feel than the Eclipse. Volleys come off the face quickly, and you get more feedback on where the ball hit.
The mid balance keeps it easy to swing, so it is still a control racket at heart. Power is better than the Eclipse, but it is not built to win points with the smash alone.
The textured face also helps with slice and kick serves, which is useful for players learning to vary the pace.
